Bike Jumping
Ransom's family is visiting from Arizona. No baby yet, but the timing was good for the boys to come up for the long Labor Day weekend and at least be able to spend time with Katie & Ransom. Ransom thought it would be fun to take his brothers and cousin Tanner up to the big pond and jump of the bike, so off to the thrift store they went to get a cheap bike. When they came back with a batter's helmet, I smiled and was more than a bit relieved. The gate was locked at the bottom and we had to walk clear up the asphalt road to get to the trail. It was unbearably hot with very little shade. Larry and I, Cole and Marian thought we would die from the heat! That is one thing I notice as I get older, the sun and heat bother me more... crazy to look back and remember the times of laying out in the sun for hours working on our tans.
The boys thought I was quiet and calm about their bike jumping. I told them I was praying. True. Accidents happen so easily and this makes me extremely nervous. Hearing their screams of delight and 'dude this' and 'dude that' conversations was the best part of the day. They did find a rope swing and had fun pulling Tanner backwards, so he could swing farther. After the bike jumping, they headed up the the waterfalls, which has the coldest water ever! Conrad was just happy to be by the water, throw rocks and be splashed by Emily. David is training to be Survivor Man and practiced staying in the freezing cold water for has long as humanly possible. We are looking forward to his survival videos.
When we got back down to the car, a kid came running down to get help for a man who had fallen on his bike in the gravel, head first. Ransom went running back and was the first medical person (in training) there and was able to help him until the paramedics and firetruck got there. Life flight helicopters were soon flown in. We pray this man will be ok. I was so proud of Ransom. He has the personality and heart of a paramedic /fireman.

The Baby Guessing Begins...
Actual due date: Labor Day. Nothing yet, but a lot of phone calls to check up on her. We wait and we wait, but no one is more anxious and miserably tired than Katie. She and Ransom painted and got the bedroom ready... now a beautiful green crib for baby to be and an orange bed for Conrad. She has been getting all the to do's crossed off her list. The winner gets their own Ben and Jerry's container of ice cream... compliments of the Grandma and Grandpa to be for the second time. News will be coming... hopefully soon. Any guesses?

Road Trip
Kelsie & Josh, Larry and David (Josh's grandpa) went on a road trip to the west dessert. I did offer to send them off with cupcakes, which were frowned upon. David smiled and said, "We are going out to the west dessert, we will kill our dinner" and they left to discover the west desert from Lehi to Delta and the small towns in between.
Their day began and ended with McDonalds. Abandoned Mines. Johnson Army Camp & Cemetery. Deep Creek mountains. Japanese internment camps. Covered 450 miles of road. Rattlesnake. Shot 22's and 45's. Pony Express Trail. Kelsie is in a much better mood with food in her tummy. They had a good time and Larry wants to take the rest of us out there soon. Thank you David!

Petting Zoo
Larry and I went with Katie, Ransom & Conrad to the petting zoo at Thanksgiving Point. He petted and fed every animal with no fear. Then he was off to get his four ponyrides. All the other kids sat on their little ponies and quietly enjoyed their ride... all of them except Conrad. Conrad was too busy petting his pony, waving and talking loud jibberish to everyone as he went round and round. I call it jibberish... actually it sounds more like chinese. He had the time of his little boy life!

First Day of School
Abby's first day at Orem High... She loves her Vans, her nose is always in a good book, long showers, ponytails, humor like her dad, loves family, doesn't like to sleep in (unless it's a school day), nervous about driving with her learner's permit, wears shorts pretty much year round, very tidy and likes a schedule, has a special spot in the kitchen for her water glass, has discovered a new laugh. We love you Abby!
