X Country

The mountains were calling and we took Josh up for his first time X country skiing... plenty of sunshine. Kelsie yelling that she is going too fast when she was really going .05 miles an hour.  Josh ending up teaching Kelsie to cut a piece of pizza. Josh looks like the classic mountain man with his nearly 11 month old beard. Not really needing skis because there was very little snow and people were hiking in boots.  Kelsie sliding down the mountain sitting on her skis (a habit she picked up as a child). Josh treating us to lunch at Baked, my new favorite place. Thank you. It was nice to spend time with these two.

Sledding Time

We had every hope that this year would bring us plenty of snowy days, especially after the big storm we got after Christmas. It's now middle of February and it has sadly not snowed since. But when it does, we hold our breath and cross our fingers. Once it sticks to the road, the trick is to get out and sled before the snow plows come out. All a matter of timing. We started in the church parking lot, but the snow plows got there after awhile and the driver was clearly impatient with us, so we moved to Cascade school. This year, with my back, I did not sled, but found joy capturing and being part of the fun. Great memories!!!

winter sets in...

In the busyness of life, my simple idea of family history is suffering so I will quickly try and get caught up this weekend. We had several back to back storms and since we live on a corner we have an extra long sidewalk... with everyone pitching in, including little Jack. Now that he has his own shovel, Ashlee will never get him back inside the house. I can see why people don't like winter... It's cold, we have to scrape car windows and it can be a bit hazardous to walk and drive in. But there is a magicalness that only winter can bring with it's shorter days of nesting, making comfort foods,  inside projects and playing outside...  it surely does make us appreciate Spring when it comes.

sledding

Best memory of sledding? Ransom wearing Joe's old snowmobile suit. A colorful blast from the past and it sure kept Ransom plenty warm. We could spot him anywhere! There is something mighty fine and lazy, being pulled up the mountain while sitting on a tube, but with this service comes a crowd. A quiet hill is still my favorite. We had fun and kept going and going until our 2 hours were up too soon. We were glad Nelson's joined us. It's a do again : )

let it snow

There is nothing quite like the delight of waking up to a steady snow fall. Praying that it will stick. Counting our blessings when it does. Today it did! Maybe it is so special because we don't know when we will be given this gift. When it happens, those who are able start gathering as we try to beat the snow plows. I believe it was Conrad's best day ever as he yelled over and over again, "Faster, Faster" as he tried to throw us all off our sleds : )

Yes. Morris in his sister's polka dots : )

when it snows...

This is catch up time on the blog. The snow storms we have gotten have been great. During the cold days of winter hereIt is easy to live for warm days to begin, but I love the thrill of a snowy day, especially if it sticks to the road and we get a chance to go sledding through the roads and parking lots. Carter was here and he and Conrad had the best time knocking each other off and running to jump back on. The guys were all at work, so it was girl time with the kids and perfect!
