rs thankful dinner

Ashlee & I had a good time at our RS Thankful dinner. Yummy dinner and good visiting. We rotated between courses and the men served and did the clean up. We were pampered. I loved this simple thought from Rosemary and know I need to work on this [a lot]. As we deal with challenges we have three choices:
1. Turn inwardly to ourselves. Ignore it, work harder or longer...
2. Turn to the world for comfort and escape
3. Give it to God

How heavy is this glass of water? The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you’ll have to call an ambulance. In each case it’s the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.

And that’s the way it is with our burdens. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won’t be able to carry on. As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while- place it at the Savior’s feet and rest—before holding it again.

Elder Richard G. Scott said it this way: “I have been greatly helped by laying a vexing matter at His feet for a while. When I picked it up again, it was lighter and more manageable (Oct 1999 General Conference).

Good thoughts and loved your illustration. Sometimes I lay my concerns at the Lord's feet and the next day I snatch them right back. Our load is so much lighter without all that weight to carry! Loved your picture by the way. Did you take it?
