Phoebe's Bath Time

Phoebe's bath went about as expected ... not so well. Conrad enjoyed it, of course he always loves the water! Can't say I would have warm & fuzzy feelings being laid on the bathroom counter, sprinkled with water and wiped down... not a pretty picture I realize :) When she can splash in a sink of warm water in a couple of weeks, she will love it!

Seeing Double?

You know how some families have kids that all look the same? And some families, like ours, have kids that all look different. We were curious to see if Phoebe would follow along with the Bigelow genes... she most definitely has.

We know Phoebe looks like her brother, but there are times we see a little bit of Katie in her too. So today, Katie brought over one of Conrad's baby outfits and we dressed her in it. We took pictures and then compared baby photos... it would be hard to tell them apart as babies, except for the hairline and maybe her slightly more delicate features. Conrad is still so tender with her and sweetly says, 'my turn' to hold his baby sister.

Conrad's First Talk with Phoebe in Hospital

When Conrad went to the park the day after Phoebe was born, he fell down and hurt himself. All he wanted to do was talk to his baby sister. Yes, it may sound like jibberish to you, but to our trained ears, we know he wants to take her for a bike ride and go to the park... with sweet kisses and his all boy sound effects :)

Expensive Lesson

Not so funny humor at my expense. My Savvy Shopping has caught up with me big time. While out shopping the deals, I came upon a bag of corn nuts for .19 (Regularly .89) In my head, if 12 bags are a good bargain, 72 must be better. We loaded up on WOW deals and came home. That .19 bag of Corn Nuts has now ended up costing me $1,300 (after insurance) for a fractured tooth root from biting down on these rock hard kernals. Ugh! I knew something was way wrong when I took that final bite and thought that maybe my tooth just needed to rest. Nope. After a week of staying away from my right side, it still hurt more than quite a bit. Finally I went to the dentist and he kindly said it needed to be removed and he would put a post/implant in it's place. Lucky for me it is in the back and I will do my best not to throw my head backwards in laughter until it is corrected. The highlight of my day was the gas, now I just feel numb. It will be nice to feel better soon :)

A Beanie for Phoebe

The accessorizing has begun! I think when Ashlee was crocheting her Granny Square afgan, she had an AHA moment and quickly whipped up a beanie for Phoebe... who very own design. Next comes the chocolate brown lining to keep her head snuggly soft and warm... add a pom pom and she is ready to greet the snow!

Chopped

Kelsie made the jump and wacked off her hair with the encouragement of Josh. I for the life of me could not picture it in my head until she came home and I fell in love with her shorter do. It's darn cute! It's true after all... people grow their hair out to cut it off and they cut it off to grow it out. It's the circle of life.

Baby Sister

Phoebe Rae Bigelow arrived on September 9th at 9:47am. 7 lbs 2oz and 19" long. Perfect. Ransom & Katie dropped off a sleeping Conrad at 4:30am and went to the hospital to be induced. We thought everyone would have time to quickly get a few things done before meeting up together, but it was a day of surprises. By 9:40am Katie was fully dilated and ready to go whether we were prepared or not... everyone but Ransom and I missed the delivery. We thank the Lord that all went well.

What I will remember most is...
A room filled with love. Amazing how love can come so quickly and strong. Unbreakable. Like she has always been here and you can't imagine your life without her. The wonder of watching Ransom and Katie stretch and grow in love. Everyone taking turns tenderly holding Phoebe and including Conrad at the same time. They will both be surrounded in love.

Conrad's reaction. Thinking our almost 3 year old grandson would be completely disinterested after a few minutes, he was delightfully involved and repeatedly said in the sweetest voice 'Baby sister' 'Tiny baby sister' 'My turn' and then the fake little pouts when he had to wait his turn. He was so tender and loving and we can feel the bond these two will have as they go through life together. He will watch over her. We feel incredibly blessed sharing these grandkids with Ransom's Mom, Marian and all the Bigelows.
