Chiles

Sometimes projects look like they will be done in lickety split timing and 3 hrs later it is finally done... a bit slower, but I think well worth it. Harmons, our favorite local grocery store sells Hatch Chiles by the 20 lb bag and will roast them for you on the spot. They seal them all in plastic to take home and sweat in the fridge for 2 hours and then the skins slide off easily. We froze a bag last week and tonight we are experimenting with canning and dehydration... come winter time we will be so grateful we have them.... and yes I told that to my family 100 times when they jumped in to help me. I do tend to leave them on the counter for awhile so I can look at them and feel I have accomplished something pretty domestic.
