the flood

I think you could hear my swearing clear upstairs. In September, we had a huge rain storm and our basement flooded a bit. Out went our soggy old carpet and padding and we waited to hear our fate from the insurance company. No big surprise. We were not covered from outside water. Of course. That was probably my first swearing. It seemed silly to put in new carpet without painting. I thought to paint. Larry thought not to paint. Larry was at school, so painting the moldings I began. I guess years ago, the painter must have used an oil based paint on them because it began to get sticky and bubble up. Hmmm. What to do? I threw on the goopy orange stuff we had in the garage and waited. It just became more of an icky, sticky and now smelly mess. This would be my second swearing. Paul and Tyler dropped by and when they saw the mess I had created, they started scrubbing the moldings down. It was a no go. Then they both said they knew how to fix it and brought down a hammer and chisel and ripped the moldings out. Easier to put on new ones they said. Of course, that was when a surprised Larry came home from school and said, 'What are you doing?'  Sometimes, things just don't go well. Thank you Paul and Tyler!

Since I'm commenting in November, bet that new carpet is beautiful:)and by now everything is a memory. That must have been some rain storm though. All I can say is thank you Lord for your son in-laws...to the rescue (again)!
