Blackberries

Is there anything better than fresh picked berries? Nope. We found a wonderfully cool farm in Mapleton, a "you pick" for $3 pound. All we had to do was patiently wait until they were at their peak, then we couldn't get there fast enough. This week we picked blackberries that were larger then our thumbs and so sweet. I think I would still be there picking, but we ran out of daylight. We tucked them into the freezer right away and look forward to jams, smoothies and cobblers this winter. Seeing them tucked away in our freezer reminds me of my sister Becky, who has her very own berry farm in Tennessee. The raspberry crop is right behind them... and we will be off picking once again. I would love a freezer full of berries :)

Those look delicious, so big and juicy. You guys must be a month behind us in your season. Bet you thought of us the whole time you picked! Love you tons. We all love frozen berries in the winter to snack on, plus they're healthy.
