The Economics Professor/It's the simple truth.

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan." All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Human nature... could not be any simpler than that.

Note: I have absolutely no problem helping anyone who cannot help themselves or helping those that need a leg up getting skilled in a new area in efforts to become self sufficient. I feel the more we help those that can help themselves, the more we empower them to be dependent upon the government. We are creating a country of takers and not givers and this greatly worries me.

Hmmmm. I like this. This is exactly what is happening, and exactly why I am republican.

Awesome! I'll have to share it with the hubby, an economist. *Ü*

Sorry Brenda, but this story is fiction and really proves nothing, except that a group of students gave up trying to learn when it became clear that the professor was going to jerk them around, lie to them, change the rules, and generally turn the class they had paid for into a circus, just because he disagreed with them on a political point.

The story, and the moral at the end is a totally fabricated view of human nature.

I know you, and probably most of your readers, are very conservative, and for this reason this story is appealing. If you don't want to post my reply on your blog, I really understand. ;-) I just wanted to add in my two cents.

Hi Susan,
Of course I will post your thoughts:) It is always good to hear and understand all views. I always welcome yours. I still think it is human nature though and that government is getting way too big over the years under both parties.

Amen. What an awesome comparison. I love it. Doesn't what's happening just make you sick? The American Dream is impossible because he wants everyone to have it.
